Last year we were delighted to introduce a new Pilates Instructor Kika Coccia. Kika has been ‘a breath of fresh air’ at Evolve Byron Bay, bringing a contagious enthusiasm for movement, exercise and Pilates into our daily class schedule. For our clients that have already had a Kika class experience they will know exactly what we are talking about and their bodies have felt it too! Kika is taking a range of classes including the higher intensity Evolve and Cardio along with our baseline Rebuild and a new Mat Pilates based class. She has also taken up the post teaching our new Prenatal Pilates 5 week workshops that have proved to be a huge hit in the Byron Shire!
We caught up with Kika to learn a little more about her and Pilates philosophy:
Tell us a bit about your background, where you are from and how you came to Byron Bay?
I am originally from Rome, Italy where I studied contemporary dance for 10 years. I moved to Australia in 2012 and fell in love with the Aussie beach lifestyle and passion for fitness. This led me to Byron Bay and Reformer Pilates which I instantly enjoyed the way it made my body feel! Over time I wanted to share this experience with others so I enrolled in a diploma course in Sydney from the highly regarded Polestar Pilates international school. It required a lot of traveling from Sydney to Byron but I was able to finish the course last year and started to teach at Evolve Byron Bay shortly after.
What are you passionate about with Pilates and Movement Therapy?
I love to make my classes challenging, fun and energetic with a beautiful sense of discipline. I focus sessions on targeted movement for whole body wellness, and love to help our clients create a healthy and strong body.
What are some activities you enjoy doing outside of teaching Pilates?
On my free time I love training and I normally do pilates, yoga, circuit training & running. I also love the ocean, world travel and spending time at the beach with my friends.
