New Physio Lara Webber

Evolve is pleased to announce we have a new Physiotherapist Lara Webber starting at Evolve this month. Lara comes to us with a wealth of knowledge in Rehab and Pilates and we be starting out facilitating some group exercise clasess on Thursday.

We caught up with Lara to hear a little more about herself and Physio background.

Tell us a bit about your background, where you are from and how you came to Byron Bay?

I’m from the UK and attended The University of Liverpool graduating in 2018 with first class BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy. I worked as a rotational Physiotherapist in Merseyside before moving to Guy’s and St Thomas’s NHS Trust, London. There I worked as a Specialist Rehabilitation Physiotherapist in London before moving to Byron Bay in December 2021. Since qualifying I have rotated through many specialities including, Orthopedics, Neuro rehab, Musculoskeletal outpatients, community-based fall prevention and Emergency Department. This has provided me with many transferable skills that allows me to deliver a high standard of patient centered care. I am a qualified Barre and Reformer Pilates Instructor and teach regular classes here in Byron.

What are you passionate about with Pilates and Physiotherapy?

Pilates is such a great exercise form for rehabilitation.  I love how through Pilates I can utilise a hands on and exercise based therapy approach to return patients to optimal function and reach their desired outcomes. At its core, Pilates promotes self awareness which is so important in rehabilitation. As Joseph Pilates once said, “Every moment of our life can be the beginning of great things.” I strive to guide people through their own rehab journeys whilst empowering them to gain a greater understanding of their bodies.

What are some activities you enjoy doing outside of teaching Pilates?

During my spare time, I enjoy running and hiking. I've found it a great way to explore the local area. I am still in awe of the scenery and landscape here - slight change from the London smog!!  I also love cooking (and eating!). I often grab produce from the Famer's Market and try out new dishes weekly. I'll also never say no to a brunch... very much working my way through the local cafe.restaurant scene!

Lara will be starting out teaching Classes every Thursday 5 and 6pm. For booking please contact us at Evolve 0416749746 or email admin@evolvebyronbay.com.au
