New Physio Rebecca Hills

We have huge month coming this May including the launch of our new Group Class Schedule and 5 new staff members! One of the new Staff Members is Physiotherapist Rebecca Hills who we caught up with for a few introduction questions.

Tell us a bit about your background, where you are from and how you came to Byron Bay?

1) I grew up and lived in Tasmania until I moved to Victoria to study physiotherapy at La Trobe Uni. After uni I moved back to Tassie and spent most of my 20s alternating between working in Tasmania and exploring the world travelling. I came to Byron in 2019 to visit a friend and then COVID hit and I ended up ‘stuck’ here. I lived here for a few years during the COVID times, fell in love with the region and it now feels like home.

What are you passionate about with Pilates and Physiotherapy?

2) I love seeing people connect to their bodies and rediscover the pleasure in moving them. When someone has been injured it can often be scary to return to movement, there’s can be confusion as to what is safe and what is not. I love helping clients get back their confidence and feeling of safety in their bodies after injury and facilitate the return to the activities they love to do. I feel Pilates is a great way to make this happen as it encourages efficient movement patterns so the body can move with greater ease and less strain.

What are some activities you enjoy doing outside of teaching Pilates?

3) At the moment I’m learning the guitar and how to sing. Growing up I never thought I was musical, so it’s a new found discovery and I’m loving it.
I practice yoga and Qi gong and love learning more about my body and my internal world through these practices.
I also enjoy chilling in nature, on the weekend you can find me on the beach, under a tree or by a waterfall.

Rebecca Will be available for Bookings Mon and Weds afternoons and will be facilitating Pilates Classes 12 and 4pm on those days also.
